[ There's a bit of a grin because he knows what ur doin, Jones. It's good. He likes it, and he has a damn good look before walking up beside him and giving him a slight shove with his elbow. Like a boy pushing a girl he likes in the playground. Good job Nate doesn't have pigtails or he'd be tugging them. ]

So. That desert then?

[He does his best to hide his grin, but fails miserably, pushing open the door for the both of them and laughing as they head out onto the street.]

There are some places around here. Or... I'm pretty sure I've got everything at home to whip up something?

[Gently drags him back to his place.]

Back to yours then. [ It's decided, clearly. ]

You mind if I get us a cab? [ It isn't that he wants to flash the cash, but he can afford it, and really, he wants to be alone with him as soon as possible. ]

[Nate blinks. That's definitely not the norm for them.]

Yeah, no that's fine. [And then he falls into an easy smile.] But if you're trying to impress me so I'll put out, you don't have to try so hard.

[ That makes him laugh as they walk along the road towards where its a bit busier and they might find a taxi ]

You know you used to ask me what it is I whisper into women's ears to get them all weak at the knees. Did you ever work it out?

Starting to, I think. But you should whisper a bit more so I can really make sure I've got it.

[ That's cheating, you know.

He laughs again, but fine, he can do that, and so he stops dead on, and turns back towards Nate, giving him that same look he'd give those women, that warmth in his smile and light in his eyes. And then he leans in, a hand lifting and tucking one of Nate's curls back behind his ear before he whispers.

And it's nothing like people might think, nothing to do with sex, nothing to do with what he wants to do with them. Nothing like that at all.

Each word is gentle, soft, a tickle of breath against his ear. ]

You look amazing tonight. You have no idea how beautiful you are. You don't even have to try, you've got me hooked.

[He's not expecting that. As the words wash over him, Nate's eyes close and he lets out a little rush of an exhale. His heart thumps in his chest, beating harder than ever before.

His mouth works open and shut, as if he might try to respond, but he can't. So instead he just reaches for Matt's free hand, gripping it tightly.]

[ Oh he knows that reaction, and it's usually that or something thereabouts that he usually gets when he does that little whisper. The words aren't always the same, but it's always in that vicinity.

At the hand grab, he looks down, but doesn't pull away, instead giving a slight grip back. ]

Told you it works. Secret is, Nate it can never be about you, it has to be about them. And you have to mean it. You have to always mean it.

Well, it works. It really works.

[He just stares at Matt for a moment, wondering how he let things go for so long without having this. This is everything to him. He glances out of the corner of his eye and sees a cab coming, causing him to raise his free hand to get the driver's attention.]

Might end up skipping dessert after all, if you keep that up.

[ When the cab pulls up Matt opens the door like a proper gentleman, ushering Nate inside so he can give his address to the driver before following in soon after. Settling down in the seat next to him, he turns his head towards him, and reaches to take his hand once again. Not because he has to, but simply because he wants to.

Leaning his head back against the seat a little, he nods. ]

We're really doing this, aren't we.

[Nate likes the way they tend to default to holding hands right now, the way it just feels like their hands are meant to fit together.]

Seems like it. Scared?

[ He laughs, partly a bit of a nervous one. ]

Fucking terrified, mate.

[Nate gives his hand a small squeeze at that.]

Honestly? Me too.

Good. Well not good but-- At least i'm not the only one, right? I'm gonna try not to fuck this one up though. If that's okay with you.

Yeah, I think that's alright with me.

[he wants to kiss him. god he wants to kiss him, but with the driver right there, that's probably not okay.]

I'm not... You know I'm not suddenly going to be cool with everything. It'd probably be better you don't tell anyone about this. I mean fuck can you imagine the reaction if half the people you knew even knew you were hanging out with me and that's without everything else.

[ Still though, he gives his hand a bit of a squeeze, and pulls it in closer towards him. ]

I don't really care what they think. [Nate says with a shrug.] It's none of their business anyway. I've gotten a few questions about why I left Simon, but for the most part, people are too self absorbed to actually give a shit what's going on with anyone else.

People care about you, Nate. They don't want you getting fucked over. And I'd get it, I really would. If this was the other way around I'd be telling you to keep the fuck away from me.

But it's just... I don't know how well I'd do if a bunch of people knew, that's all.

I'm not going to tell anyone, Matt. Seriously. The last thing I want is to make you uncomfortable about this stuff.

I'm not uncomfortable. Do I look uncomfortable? I mean I'll prove it if you want.

[ Not that he knows how he'd do that, but he will totally do it. ]

But you would be. If people knew.

[ He glances aside, frustrated but because it's true. He hates that its true, but he knows that it is. ]

I'l work on it. It's just going to take time.

Hey... [He tugs gently at Matt's hand to try to get him to look at him again.] I'm not in any rush.

[ And look back he does, giving him a soft smile. ]
